Legal
Acceptable Use Policy
What you can put on a Varumo site and what gets the site taken down. Most users will never run into this — it's here for when we need it.
Effective: 2026-05-06
What's fine
- Genuine wedding, engagement, anniversary, birthday, or similar private celebration invitations.
- Photos of you and your wedding party, your venue, your ceremony plans.
- Custom links to your registry, livestream, dress-code Pinterest board, anything related to the event.
- Fun emoji, hashtags, jokes, multi-language content. We support every Unicode language — feel free to write your story in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Arabic, Mandarin, anything.
What's not
Illegal content
- Anything that violates Indian law or the law of your country: child sexual abuse material, terrorism content, copyright infringement, fraud.
- Promoting controlled substances, weapons sales, or any other illegal commerce.
Impersonation
- Sites pretending to be someone else's wedding ("@JohnAndJane2026" when you're not John or Jane).
- Using someone's name, photo, or likeness without their consent.
Spam and abuse
- Sites built for SEO games, link farms, or to redirect to unrelated commercial content.
- Sites that exist to harass, dox, or threaten anyone.
- Sites that knowingly fundraise under false pretenses.
Adult content
Tasteful photos of you and your partner are fine. Sexually explicit content is not. Use your judgement — if it would be uncomfortable for a 70-year-old guest to load on their phone, don't.
Malicious technical use
- Pasting URLs that link to malware, phishing, or scam pages — we sanitise
javascript:,data:, andmailto:URLs server-side, but the spirit of the rule covers anything we miss. - Trying to break our rate limits or scrape every public site on the platform.
- Using exploits in our service — please report them instead, we have a small bug-bounty thank-you.
What happens if you cross the line
- If we spot a violation we'll email you. Most of the time it's a misunderstanding (a custom link pointing somewhere that has since been compromised, etc.) and we'll fix it together.
- If it's clear-cut and harmful (impersonation, illegal content), we suspend the site immediately and email you to explain.
- Repeat or severe violations get the account closed. We don't refund payments tied to violation-driven closures, except where required by law.
- If we receive a valid takedown notice (DMCA-equivalent under the Indian Copyright Act, or law-enforcement court order), we comply.
